Vignette: Platter

A platter for a wedding feast in 1838 has been passed down through the generations. It is still intact and an envelope containing faded photographs taken at a later time is taped to the bottom of the platter.

OldHouseBThere is no information about what the day to day life was like for the bride and groom as they lived out their lives or what activities were pursued or what the town or community was like, etc., etc. Nothing is known about this now and the platter and photographs have lost much of the meaning that they must have once had.
