With regard to the debate about CAGW theory, it is explained in “What’s a sceptic?”Bishop Hill, October 21, 2012, that misunderstanding exists about what the dispute is about.
Also, the argument for a major, almost exclusive role in global warming by CO2 seemed to be made by the hockey stick graph, which showed a long time period of fairly constant temperature followed by large temperature increase (the hockey stick blade). The graph was constructed, however, by omitting the Medieval Warm Period and the Little Ice Age. Faults in the statistical treatment were found as well. The problems with the graph as well as with a recent successor hockey stick have been described in “Speak loudly and carry a busted hockey stick” by Walter Starck, Quadrant Online, November 19, 2012.
Letter, November 30, 2012:
Pflugerville does not currently have a website where local issues are widely be discussed online by residents on a continuing basis.
One such issue where more discussion might have benefited the city pertains to green energy.
Earlier this year, the possibility that Pflugerville might be going to become the “actual green energy capital of Texas” could be found in a statement reported in “Panasonic to team with developer on planned Pflugerville solar farm, city officials say” by Kirk Ladendorf and James Rincon, Austin American-Statesman, February 16, 2012. Yet, moving in a big way toward renewable energy sources might be premature if the technology is not well developed and is costly to the taxpayer in terms of subsidies and if the validity of catastrophic anthropogenic global warming (CAGW) theory is not really established.
